Dr. Joseph A. Awuni graduated from the University for Development Studies, Tamale, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Technology (Agricultural Economics & Extension) in 2000. He furthered his education at the University of Reading, England, where he obtained a Master of Science degree in Agricultural Development Economics in 2004. Dr. Awuni received a PhD in Management Science & Eng. (Economic Systems Management) from Jiangsu University in the Peoples Republic of China in 2015. He has been working with the University for Development Studies (UDS) Tamale, Ghana since 2001: as a Senior Research Assistant in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension to February 2005; Lecturer, March 2005– December 2016 and Senior Lecturer since January 2017. He was Head of the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics from June 2017 to May 2020 and became the foundation Head of the Economics Deportment at the School of Applied Economics and Management Sciences from January 1, 2021 to date. Dr. Awuni is a member and current Vice-President (Administration) of the Ghana Association of Agricultural Economists. He has over 30 peer reviewed publications and is also an Editor of Open Agriculture (Degruyter), reviewer to 15 international Journals and 3 local Journals. Dr. Awuni has collaborated with several research institutions and universities around the world including; International Water Management Institute (IWMI), Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS), JICA-Research Institute, and the University of Tokyo, Japan. He has also worked with many institutions/organizations on the assessment /evaluation of several developmental projects/programmes.
