Dadson Awunyo-Vitor is an Associate Professor and a Fellow of Association of Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA), UK; Member of Institute of Chartered Accountant (ICA) Ghana; Member of Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and Member of Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIT) Ghana. Awunyo-Vitor obtained PhD in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ghana in 2011 after graduating from Imperial College, University of London with MSc Agricultural Economics in 2000. He also has a Bachelor’s degree from University of Science and Technology, Kumasi in Agriculture (First Class Honours) in 1997. He has Postgraduate Diploma Certificate in Management Information System (MIS) from the Ghana Institute of Public Administration (GIMPA), and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the University of Cape coast.
Awunyo-Vitor has several years of experience as an Agricultural Economist, Investment Advisor, Accountant and Auditor. He worked briefly with Capital Alliance Company as an investment advisor and a Broker on Ghana Stock Exchange before joining University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi as Assistant Internal Auditor. He moved into full time lectureship and teaches at the Department of Agricultural Economics and Farm Management, the KNUST School of Business at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Administratively he was the Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness and Extension in 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 academic years, and saved as the Director of the Institute of Local Government Studies, Madina Accra 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 academic years. He served as a member of the Governing Council of the Local Government Service and on several Committees of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development notable among them is the LoCAL project Technical committee; Entity Tender Committee and He also undertook several consultancy work for both governmental and non-governmental organisation including MoFA, GIZ, CIDA and IFAD etc.
Awunyo-Vitor’s research interests cover various aspects of agricultural economics, accounting and finance, as well as marketing. He has conducted extensive research in agricultural finance, accounting, health insurance policy, household waste management, estimation and measurement of farm level technical efficiency. He has published in several international journals including Agricultural Finance Review, Journal of Agribusiness in Developing and Emerging Economies, Scientific African, Journal of the Saudi Society of Agricultural Sciences, Cogent Economics & Finance, Journal of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Agriculture & Food Security.
